I Was A Male War Bride

Cary Grant stars in this classic comedy. He is in the French Army and working with a female US major on a mission. They fall in love and get married.

Then the US forces leave and that is when things get complicated. The only way to get Grant back to America is by declaring him a war bride. The system is not set up for a male war bride.

Grant is good as always. This might be as good as His Girl Friday or Bringing Up Baby. Those are great films. He has a good chemistry with his leading lady, Ann Sheridan.

This might have been based on a true story. The DVD box shows credit and those credits include “from a story by Henri Rochard.” Grant’s character in the film is named Henri Rochard.
