Needful Things by Stephen King

Needful Things is a 1991 book by Stephen King and it was billed as the last Castle Rock story. Castle Rock was a small fictional Maine town that was the setting of other Stephen King novels. The novel was made into a movie in 1993.

A new shop opens in Castle Rock called Needful Things. The owner is a charming man named Leeland Gaunt and soon it seems the entire town has bought something special at the shop.  However there are hidden costs and Gaunt is not always charming.

It is an interesting book. It has a large cast.  At times, it seems the cast is a bit too large. (Once people start dying, like they do in Stephen King novels, that is a less of a problem.) Also the ending was a bit weak or maybe it was hard to understand.

A lot of Stephen King novels are set in Maine. I am not sure if I want to go there. (Kidding.)
