Gasping for Airtime by Jay Mohr

Jay Mohr is currently a sports talk show host on Fox Sports radio.  At times, it is a good show. He has been in TV sitcoms and one drama (the Ghost Whisperer) and movies. He remains a stand up comic.

He spent two years as a featured peformer on Saturday Night Live. It was not a great time for him. He was on from 1993 to 1995.  While he worked there, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, David Spade, Chris Farley, and others. (I think Chris Rock had already moved on by the time Jay joined the show.)

Gasping for Airtime is the story of his two years at Saturday Night Live.  Mohr wrote it years after his time on SNL. I thought it was interesting.  I have fond memories of Sandler and company on that show and also Hartman and company. (They were different companies. I think Hartman worked more with John Lovitz. )

It is worth checking out at a local library or borrowing from a friend who has a copy.

I might get Mohr’s second book, No Wonder My Parents Drank.
