Murder My Sweet re-watched

Murder My Sweet is a classic movie from 1944. It is based on Raymond Chandler ‘s novel Farewell My Lovely. I have watched it several times over the years.

Dick Powell stars as Philip Marlowe. He is investigating a robbery and also looking for a missing woman. The simple cases turn out not be simple.

Powell was known as a song and dance man before this movie.  He narrated the movie. The movie was renamed because the studio was afraid that the novel’s title sounded like a musical.

This is a good movie. Powell was good as Marlowe and it changed his career.  I think he was just as good as Humphrey Bogart was in the Big Sleep.

Anne Shirley, Claire Trevor, and Mike Marzurki are good in supporting roles. It was directed by Edward Dmytryk.
