Book Thoughts August 2013

The Last Alibi by David Ellis is pretty good.  It is his fourth book featuring lawyer Jason Kolarich.   (This is his  ninth book, not including  two co-written with James Patterson.) This novel features his partner Shauna Tasker and it switches viewpoints between the two characters.  In this one, Jason is on trial for murder.  I am listening to it on digital download.  It is read by Luke Daniels and Tanya Elby, which helps with the alternating points of view.

I am also reading R.A. Salvatore’s the Companions.  It is the first book of the Sundering series.  (The Sundering is set in the Forgotten Realms. ) It also features his long running series character Drizzt Do’Urden.   So, far it is pretty good and I have the next book in the series, the Godborn by Paul S. Kemp, on pre-order.  If that book is good (and I expect it will be good), I am going to get the third book in the series.

I wonder if there will be a last Roger Ebert movie guide.  I think there should be one.  Maybe it could be a special edition with some of Ebert’s best known reviews and essays.

According to Paul S. Kemp, his book the Hammer and the Blade is getting another printing.  That is good.

upcoming books I am planning to get

Storm Front by John Sandford

Gone by James Patterson

Dark City by F. Paul Wilson

Gods of Guilt by MIchael Connelly

White Fire by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
