the Sorcerer’s Apprentice re-watched

The Sorcerer’s apprentice is pretty good.  It is not even a minor classic but it is enjoyable.  This movie stars Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, and Theresa Palmer.  Baruchel is Dave, a 20-year-old physics student who discovers he’s the heir to Merlin.  Nicolas Cage is Balthazar Blake, a sorcerer who wants to train Dave and defeat the villain Horvath (Alfred Molina).  Horvath wants to free Morgana Le Fay from a magical prison so that she can destroy the world.

I liked the movie.  I haven’t seen it in a while and I thought it held up pretty well.  It is a good movie, there are touches of humor but not too many.  The acting is good.  Nicholas Cage is not over the top (or maybe only slightly over the top), Alfred Molina is droll, Jay Baruchel and Teresa Palmer are likable as the male and female leads.

The cleaning scene where the mops and buckets get out of control is fun.  Yes, this is a homage to the scene from Fantasia.

I liked it and I am glad that I own it on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
