TV thoughts August

Jay Leno is taking a pay cut and 20 people from the Tonight Show staff were fired.  I guess the economics of late night are not what they used to be.  ABC seems to think that Jimmy Kimmel’s star is on the rise.  He is being moved to 11:35pm next year to complete more directly with Leno and Letterman.

Steve Harvey is joining the afternoon talk show market.  It seems a bit crowded but maybe he will do well.  I think he will do a fun show.

I haven’t watched too much pre-seaon football.

I wonder what will be the big breakout show next year.  I am not sure if there really has been one for a few years.  Maybe the TV game has changed too much for a real break out hit compared to the way things were even 10 years ago.
