Fantastic Four trailer

The new Fantastic Four trailer is out. I hate the Fantastic Four trailer. Well, maybe hate is too strong a word.  It is not good or maybe to be correct, it is not what I want. (Of course, since I am not bankrolling the movie, I don’t expect it to be exactly what I want. I’d like it to be a little closer though.)

It looks like a promo for Interstellar.  I am not sure how intentional it is but the movie looks a lot like the early promo for interstellar. It does not look like a superhero movie.

Plot details are vague. It looks like another origin story but maybe it will be a good origin story. It is too early to say anything about the cast.

It would be nice if Fantastic Four, Spider-man, and X-men were part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However they are not.  There are rumors that Spider-man might join the MCU but so far those seem to be just rumors.

the Fantastic Four Remake or Reboot

What is up with the Fantastic Four remake or reboot or whatever,  Adjectives like low tech and realistic are being used to describe it.  Low-tech?  Are you kidding, the Fantastic Four has always been high tech.

The casting of Michael B Jordan as the Human Torch is controversial. I am not sure I would have done it but he’s a good actor.

I like Miles Teller but he seems a bit boyish to be Reed Richards.  Maybe that is what the producers/writers/director want though.   He is often good.

It seems a bit odd that there is not more promotion of the movie yet. There is a trailer for Star Wars the Force Awakens and that doesn’t open for a year.  There is a trailer for Avengers and that movie does not open for six months and the trailer came out over a month ago. There has not been a Fantastic Four trailer yet.

Batman v Superman has released photos from the set. That doesn’t come out for another 13 months or so.  There has not been much released from the Fantastic Four reboot.  Is Fox hidding the movie?

An odd thing happens in the Punisher No. 12

Okay, this is odd. In the latest issue of the Punisher,  three characters who look suspiciously like three actors from the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot were blown up. Someone at the company had to approve that.

The writer, Nathan Edmondson, says this is not a knock at the upcoming film. He said this was done in good fun. Maybe he is telling the truth. It does look a little odd.

Maybe the editor should have stepped in. There have been rumors that Marvel is not happy with the Fanstastic Four movie rights situation and the head of the company has decided to downplay the team in the comics.

There is an article about this at http://www.newsarama.com/22842-did-marvel-comics-blow-up-the-fantastic-four-reboot-cast.html

On the bright side, the art was good. Maybe this will help the book attract new readers.

Comic Book Movie Thoughts (November 2014)

Gullerimo Del Torro has finished his Justice League Dark script. He has turned it into the studio. If the film gets made or not is uncertain. This film would star the supernatural heroes like John Constantine and Zantana.  I think Del Torro wants to direct the movie but finding time in his schedule might an issue.

Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director Jame Gunn says he has no plans to put Richard Rider/Nova in the Gurdians of the Galaxy sequel.  I would like to see Nova on the big screen. Gunn said that he felt it was important that Star-Lord be the only human (or half-human)in the movie.

More gossip/news about the Fantastic Four reboot is hitting the internet. It is not getting good responses.  Someone who worked on the film described it as low tech and realistic, probably the last two adjectives that apply to the Fantastic Four. Maybe the film will be good, even if it is not quite what I want it to be.

Movie Thoughts 6-1-2014

The Fault in Our Stars opens this weekend. Early reviews are good. The previews have looked good.  I will probably see it.  I still haven’t read the book it is based on but I’ve heard the book is good.

Edge of Tomorrow opens this weekend too. It looks pretty good.  I haven’t seen any early reviews yet. I am thinking of going. I guess if it doesn’t open well there will be another round of writers saying that Tom Cruise’s starpower isn’t what it used to be.

The latest Transformers movie opens this month. I have seen previews but have no interest. It surprises me that this franchise is as popular as it is.

A Million Ways to Die in the West didn’t open well. It did look like a third rate Blazing Saddles but I am surprised it didn’t open better. I thought more of the fans of McFarlane’s TV shows would go. Some reviews have said that Charlize Theron was surprisingly funny and maybe she should get more comedies.

There is something weird going on at Marvel and it seems to involve the new Fantastic Four movie.  Marvel will reportedly cancel Fantastic Four and move the characters out of the spotlight to hurt Fox or at least to spite Fox. I am not sure how that helps Marvel or how it will hurt Fox.

Movie thoughts 5-20-2014

There are rumours of a Namor the Submariner movie. These are early rumors. No casting rumors have appeared yet.  This would be Universal’s  move into the superhero movie game.

There is no Pacific Rim sequel in the works as yet. Pacific Rim was good but for some reason didn’t it really do very well in America (relative to its cost). It did well outside of America.

The latest news about a fifth Bourne movie is that the script is being re-written. Matt Damon is reportedly willing to come back as Jason Bourne. At one point he only seemed interested if director Paul Greengrass came back.  Jeremy Renner is set to return as Aaron Cross.

Now there are rumors that the Fantastic Four and X-men movies will not exist in the same movie universe, at least not soon. As long as the movies are good, I am okay with them being in different universes. In fact, maybe it would be just as well if they are seperate.

Speaking of the Fantastic Four reboot, I am looking forward to it.  It could be good. They’ve signed someone to play the Mole Man.

X-men Days of Future Past opens this weekend.
